Ode to Moose

Today is our Baby Moosey's 4th Birthday!

Greg and I got Moose when we were dating when he was just 6 weeks old. He was such a little Chunk! I liked to call him a little tootsie roll because well, he was a little bit "rounder" than most puppies.

I'll never forget going to pick him out and trying to find the one with the biggest paws. He was so sleepy and just wanted us to leave him alone.

We've had so much fun with him over the years and can say that even though we threatened to give him away on several occasions due to instances of: dumping over the very full kitchen trashcan and strewing the trash all over the house, chewing up nice pairs of shoes, using the bathroom in the house, etc. I can greatfully say that this sweet boy has brought us many laughs and brightens our days.

First Day that we got him.

After a swim in the Hot Tub.

I miss how small he was!

Our first tender moment.

Dog's got swag.

The Dog wears our shower curtain almost daily.

Passed OUT.

Going for a good roll in the grass.

Hunting Puppy!

Ready for the ducks!

Always with a stuffed animal in tow.

Passed out upside down with creepy half-open eyes and alligator teeth.

Mother Mary Moose.

Riding out a tornado in the closet. Always trying to protect me.

Last but not least, smokin' a Stogie like a big dog.

What Every Household Needs: A Dyson

Having a dog means having a house that must be cleaned often. Well, that is if you don't want to live with dog hair taking over your life. We end up vacuuming our house once a week and every time we do, I get a little giddy about getting to use our Dyson DC24 Animal Ball.

I am a firm believer that every household needs one of these. If you have animals or not, it is worth the high price tag. It's unbelievable, astonishing, and rather disgusting how much dirt, dust, and hair this thing will pick up when you vacuum. But on the contrary, it leaves you feeling very much accomplished and that your house is ridiculously clean.

I recently had a co-worker buy one who has two children. He too was astonished about how much it seemed to pick up that his previous, really nice vacuum was missing. They say when you buy one, to first vacuum with your current vacuum and then to go and re-vacum your house with your new Dyson. The outcome paints a picture of how much your old vacum was missing over the years. Gross.

So, all in all, if you're getting married and creating a registry, or if you care about the cleanliness of your home, or just want a new gadget for your home, spring for the Dyson. You WILL NOT regret it!

Fun with the Aggies

On the Monday after New Years, Greg and I got to enjoy our last day off by spending it with one of his best friends, Hunter, and Hunter's wife, Shelby. Greg and I had been discussing what to do on our day off, and when we found out that Hunter and Shelby were going to be in town, we invited them to go to The Dallas World Aquarium with us that afternoon.

Let me just say this.... THAT PLACE IS AWESOME! It was a little pricey, but so cool that I definitely think that it was worth it! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun date idea in the DFW area. You definitely won't be disappointed.

One of my faves, the otter!

Baby alligator

Some of the largest and nastiest "catfish" that i've ever seen.

A manatee.

If this guys exhibit didn't smell so bad, I would have seriously contemplated bringing him home.

Caught this nasty thing in the middle of a yawn. Yes, apparently snakes yawn.

Largest crab that I've ever seen!

And alas, Hunter and Shelby.

After the Aquarium, we all headed back to our house and the boys decided that they just HAD to grill some steaks for dinner. So, expert chefs as we are, Shelby and I decided that we didn't want just any old potatoes for dinner, but that we were both going to attempt making Twice Baked Potatoes for the first time. They were a success and so delicious! Nothing better than good steak and potatoes. Mmmmm.

After dinner, we played games and sat around and laughed till our abs hurt. I am so thankful for the friendship that Greg has with Hunter. They are the kind of friends that can spend a year apart (due to that whole Aggie-Bear thing) and pick up right where they left off. Not to mention, they are so funny when they are together. I am also so fortunate that their friendship introduced Shelby and I. I know that if we were in the same place going to school, we definitely would have been good friends. And now, we are so excited that they are moving to the Metroplex! It means more Hunter & Shelby time! Woooo Hooo! Love you guys!

The Last Day of 2011

So, on December 31, 2011, we were blessed with some BEAUTIFUL weather. So much so, that Greg and I scrapped our plans of cleaning up our house during the day (hah! like that's ever hard to give up), because we knew we had to be outside enjoying the weather. We did a little research and found a place just 10 minutes from our house where you could rent road bikes at a relatively cheap price and so we decided to commit.

I have never actually ridden a road bike before. Greg, on the other hand, not only owned a ride bike, but the summer before we met, he and two other men rode mountain bikes throughout the Himalayas. Aka, he's kind of legit. So, naturally, I want to be just as cool as him, and I have always dreamed of getting a bike and soaking up beautiful weather when the occasion arose. That dream was crushed when we were moving Greg out of Waco and realized that his road bike had been stolen out of his garage. Only in Waco. So for now, we rent bikes and dream of the day when we can throw down some G's to get some bikes.

We took the White Rock Creek trail that starts at a park near our house and rode down to Dallas White Rock Lake. All in all, the trip was about 15 miles and took us around an hour. It was the perfect way to enjoy the last day of 2011. And yes, I am now a fan of road bikes. It's on my list of things to buy when I'm a millionaire. Someday....... hah.

Sic 'Em Bears!!

Greg and I didn't get to make it to a Baylor Football game this year, so when we found out that we were headed to the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio we decided that we HAD to go. Since we're newlyweds and money doesn't grow on trees, we decided that our tickets to the game would be our Christmas presents to each other. We couldn't have asked for anything better!!

My cousin and her husband graciously allowed us to eat their food and crash in their spare bedroom, so I took off last Thursday and Friday and we headed down to San Antonio. The forever long roadtrip was my least favorite part, but on the way there, we did make time to stop in Waco to go to Spice and grab some sandwiches at Schmaltz's to eat on the road. I miss both of those places. And how cheap they are. NOTHING is cheap in Dallas. Oh well, probably better that I save my money anyways!

The view from our seats. First row of the club level!

I would like to say that it was hands down the best game we've ever been to, but I'll be honest, it was STRESSFUL! Baylor nor Washington have a defense, and for a while, I really thought that we might lose. But lo and behold, the Heisman Trophy winner took control of the game and we won! All I can say is SIC 'EM BEARS!!! Woo hoo! Next on the list: A Baylor Basketball game.

Baylor on the field awaiting the awards!

Then the Fireworks began.

Then the moment I'd been waiting for allllllll night: the balloons!!
